V90 SD Card Speed

Memory cards rated at this class are the top end or top tier when we speak about performance. Most SD cards at this level reach more than 200 MB per second read and write speeds. This makes V90 cards compatible with 4K and higher video resolutions for high-end cameras.

For example, Sony makes V90 UHS-II SD cards that can reach up to 299 MB per second sequential write speed and a 300 MB sequential read speed. These cards are mostly used by professional videographers who record high-resolution and high frame rate video footage.

Speed Class Comparison: V90 vs V30 SD Card

Given that the price for these two memory card types has a huge difference, you may be wondering… is this also the case when it comes to their performance?

Let’s find out!

SD cards rated at V30 usually have a write speed of up to 30 MB per second while V90 cards can reach up to 90 MB per second. In this case, V90 cards would perform better especially on sequential burst shots. The camera’s buffer would clear significantly faster when you are using V90 cards since it has a higher burst write speed.

This means your camera would be available faster to take the next shot compared to using V30 memory cards. This can be crucial especially if you are a photographer who takes shots of fast phased events like a basketball game, car racing events, or wild-life photography. So, if these things are important for you then you should consider getting a V90 card.

Short answer? If your camera requires fast V90 sd cards then the answer is definitely yes! These cameras are usually capable of shooting 4k or 8k footage. A V90 SD card would allow you to maximize not only your time but also the performance of your camera. If your memory card can match the speed of your camera then you would have the best shooting experience possible and it will ensure a correct data transfer between your memory card and device.
